Roarke was launched in 2009 by designer Mignonne Gavigan and former Bergdorf Goodman buyer Laetitia Stanfield. Gavigan was raised in Charlotte, North Carolina and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill. She studied abroad at the Sorbonne in Paris and later returned to study fashion design at Parsons. Upon completion of her studies, she moved to New York City where she worked for Marc Jacobs, Asprey and FORM, a small design collective. Stanfield grew up in New York City, Paris, and Middleburg, Virginia. Following her graduation from George Washington University with A BBA in finance, she moved to Manhattan and began her career in the fashion industry. She spent four years as a buyer on the contemporary floor of Bergdorf Goodman. Gavigan and Stanfield met in 2009 and used their collective fashion industry experience to fill in a niche they felt was lacking in the accessories market. Roarke’s collection presents something new and fresh in jewelry design—striking beaded chiffon necklaces, exquisite bracelets, and original headbands that are unique and eye catching, and most importantly, truly statement-making.
