Gemma Redux
Before delving into fashion, Gemma Redux designer Rachel Dooley studied mechanical engineering and material science. She went on to earn a law degree and it was during her time in law school that Dooley first began creating jewelry, combing vintage and industrial materials. Dooley continued designing jewelry while practicing law at a Manhattan firm. Within months of beginning Gemma Redux, Dooley’s designs were showing up in publications such as Cosmopolitan, Glamour, and Zink Magazine, featured on the hit show Gossip Girl, and photographed on Blake Lively, Cameron Diaz, Jessica Alba, and Molly Sims. In 2010, Dooley was chosen as one of twelve designers to participate in the Fashion Incubator program through the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA)—a program created to support the next generation of promising talent in the fashion industry and to sustain new fashion businesses in New York City.
